Leader Clubs
IN SECTION: IN THE AIRFIVE AMA CLUBS have a reason to celebrate this year. They have been Leader Clubs for 25 consecutive years!
In order to be named an AMA Leader Club, organizations must be chartered by AMA for a minimum of 5 years, have their club’s membership open to all AMA members, and must develop and post safety and operation rules at their flying sites and provide this information to AMA Headquarters. The club’s field also needs separate areas for fliers and spectators and these areas have to be clearly marked. The AMA Safety Code must be posted and visible at the field.
Congratulations to the following clubs for meeting these qualifications for 25 years: the Rochester Aero-Modeling Society, New York; the Tuscarora R/C Flying Club, Pennsylvania; Skymasters R/C of Michigan; the Circle Masters Flying Club, Wisconsin; and the Jeffco Aeromod’lers, Colorado.

The club is a Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered club #662 and has been recognized by the AMA as a Gold Leader Club.
What is a leader club? In an effort to recognize the leadership of the finest and most dedicated AMA chartered clubs, the Academy offers the Leader Club Awards. These awards can be earned by any AMA chartered club that demonstrate the highest standards of community service, involvement and modeling activity. Clubs can achieve Bronze , Silver and Gold status. While there are over 100 gold leader clubs, only a select few have achieved this status for an extended period. The Milwaukee Circle Masters is one of only 14 clubs nationwide, and the only control line club to achieve a gold leader status for over 20 years |
